Welcome to my site, which is under construction

Started my interest in Amateur Radio as a SWL with an Eddystone 640S Receiver and a long piece of wire back in the dark ages of the 1970's. Once I Passed the RAE and obtained my "B" licence, I purchased used PMR equipment (PYE) and modified this am equipment to operate with phase modulation on 2m with 4 crystal controlled channels - the height of technology in those days! I also built a 2m transverter for the Eddystone Receiver so that I could “tune” and receive the whole 2m band.

I have also operated as 5N0AFJ while working in Lagos Nigeria in the early 1980's and have too many stories to detail here, had a wonderful time and many interesting contacts.

Having not been operational for over 20 years, I have now returned to the hobby and the UK.

The licencing arrangements in the UK have changed and my previous "B" licence has now been "converted" into a full licence so HF beckons. I'm currently rebuilding my QTH Radio Shack with mostly "black box" amateur equipment from Kenwood.

I’m really pleased to be operational again and look forward to many more radio contacts.
